Budget or Consumption Billing

Perhaps you have heard this before, but the Budget Plan stretches the cost of your annual fuel deliveries out over an 11-month period.  70 percent of our deliveries take place in half the year.  Translated, 100 percent of your propane cost is probably incurred in the winter months, along with Christmas bills, one installment of property tax, an insurance bill or two, income tax, etc.  Maybe stretching it out makes sense this coming year.

Maybe it doesn’t.  Then perhaps Consumption Billing is the answer.  Simply put, you pay for what you use, monthly.  This might be the alternative you want, instead of paying for a delivery within 30 days, and using it over 90 days.  Or in the coldest part of the winter, perhaps needing to pay for two deliveries within 45 days, then maybe not using the remainder of the fuel for six months in the summer.

We now have the technology available to remotely monitor the fuel level in your tank, by satellite.  We bill you monthly for what you use.  To offer Consumption Billing this year, we intend to utilize SkyTracker.

In Central Indiana, this technological innovation is only available from Sagamore Gas.  SkyTracker allows our office to monitor your propane tank level, and route our driver efficiently when you need fuel.  Currently our degree-day software routes us when we estimate you need fuel.

While our computer program is excellent at what it does, it still is an estimate.  We don’t want anyone to run out, so we err on the side of caution and regularly show up before you need fuel (showing up after you run out is poorly received).  If we install a SkyTracker on your tank, and monitor the level of propane in your tank, we can deliver fuel more efficiently, which controls our costs.  You can pay for only what you use each month, controlling your costs.

Both the Budget Billing Plan and the Consumption Billing Plan are being planned for the 2007-08 heating season.  If interested in either one, or if you have any questions, please give us a call.
